"Castanyada"

Hi! We are Maria, Yunaida and Sara, and now we presented our project about the “Castanyada”.
This is a popular party of Catalunya that is celebrated for All Saints. It consists of a meal that is eaten: Chesnuts, potatoes, condred fruit… The typical drink is “moscatell”, which is variety of while vine. In the English-speaking countries, the “Castanyada” is the same as Halloween, and the children are disguised with scary costumes and they ring the bell in all the houses to get candies. In Catalunya, in the streets, there are the “Castanyeres” and they sell chestnuts… The “Catanyera” is an old woman that wears poor clothes, a winter coat and a headscarf.
There’s a story that tells that the “Castanyada” started at the end of 18th century.
In our high school, “IES Sant Andreu”, we celebrate, also, the “Castanyada” and we do sport activities, workshops to make “panellets”, workshops to make-up, and others are: a workshop is dancing “Sardanes” that is the typical folk dance of Catalunya, also we drawing comics, playing  and a workshop that is a horror tunnel.
