Four hundred years ago, Manhattan Island was the home of the Algonquin Indian. In 1790, about 33,000 people lived in New York. 3. New York taxis are yellow and there are 11,000 or more of them. In New York people move a lot in public transportation. 4. Some places to go: Manhattan, Greenwich Village, Central Park, Brooklyn, Coney Island. 5. The Empire State building at Fifth Avenue and 34th street. The World Trade Centre on Church Street band Liberty Street. 6. In New York there are many clothing stores and food stores. New Yorkers like junk food, for example, hamburgers, hot dogs and more. 7. Most of the theatres are in the streets near Times Square and on Broadway. There are “off-Broadway” theatres in Greenwich Village and in some parts of New York. Americans love to watch an exciting game of baseball, and New York Has two famous baseball teams-the Mets and the Yankees. The New York marathon finishes after running 41, 84 Km. 8. Traditional festivals are: St Patrick’s Day Thanksgiving Day America’s Independence Day 9. Some visitors find that New Yorkers are not very friendly. The city is always changing. WALK signs go on and off, and people run along streets and avenues.
